Back to School for the Soul

This week, my older son, Sawyer, started “big kid school” – half-time Kindergarten.

I knew this would be an important moment as a parent, but I was kind of surprised by the things that stuck out to me on Back-to-School Night, or as I’m calling it, “Back to School Night for the Soul.”

It’s messy, complicated, beautiful, and chaotic to witness our children take these monumental steps, but as I discovered, these moments also involve opportunities to reflect back to our own childhoods, look to the future, and realize the things we want most for our children.
