Mini Episode: Does Making More Money Lighten the MotherLoad?
Would you feel like your motherload was lighter if you had more money?
I asked this question recently on social media and got more engagement on it than anything I’ve shared in quite awhile.
I think it’s an important question because, as high-achieving mothers, we’re often measuring the impact work has on mothering, and for a lot of us, money is at the core of that relationship. Our own family is reliant on me making money. Yes, I love to work, but I also NEED that money. That’s part of our lifestyle.
Things get complicated when we start looking at the amount of time it takes us to make money. Is your answer different if time DOESN’T factor so tightly into the equation? Where do you fall on the spectrum?
In this episode you’ll hear about:
How money COULD help with acquiring more help around the house – but also add more problems or take more time away from family
My own money mindset: where it comes from, how it impacts my ambition, and wanting to be a mom vs. the pressure of being a breadwinner
Effort vs. alignment – do you actually have to spend more hours away from your children to make more money? Or is it our own belief systems?
My programming to believe that to make more money, there needs to be MORE time/effort/strategy – and the proof around me that this isn’t always true
What could we do differently in our businesses to create more opportunities for revenue growth that don’t require more time?
No matter our work status – entrepreneurs, nine-to-fivers, stay-at-home moms or some combination – the money aspect of our identity is real for all of us
