Mini Episode: 3 Things I'm Learning from Trying to Volunteer in My Son's Classroom

The last few weeks, I’ve been dealing with my first exposure to school politics.

In short, a handful of moms took all the volunteer spots in my son’s classroom, fewer than five parents signing up for eight to twelve slots each. On the surface, it might not seem like a big deal, but underneath are some serious questions I’m pondering.

Questions like, are we showing up to help the school and our kids? Or are we showing up to fill some unmet need of our own?

In this episode, I tell the story in detail and the lessons I’ve taken away from it. It’s one aspect of my mental load, and I hope it resonates with you, and that you can take something away from it for your future school politics run-ins.
