Mini Episode: Should We Really "Burn the Boats"?
You can't burn all the boats when you're a mother.
But for so many years, I lived in that mindset. Today I’m going to share exactly what this metaphor means and why it can be more challenging to adopt as a mother and entrepreneur.
People say you have to be ALL IN on an idea - there’s no turning back. But there’s such a delicate balance between ambition, devotion, and motherhood. Sometimes it makes sense to safely retreat to another boat in the harbor rather than pursuing and persevering towards one thing.
Today I’m sharing how I’m processing this metaphor, especially as it relates to MotherLoad and the $100K in 100 Days challenge, and why I am currently in a season of not feeling comfortable or motivated to burn boats. I would like to have several boats in the harbor!
In this episode you’ll hear about:
The sentiment behind “burning the boats” and how I interpret it
Why we don’t actually need to succumb to one idea and go all in on it - because if that one thing starts to feel out of alignment, it can create strain and depletion
The importance of being aware of our personal capacity, desires, excitement and stress levels
The pressure and challenges I’m facing in birthing MotherLoad into something bigger, when I could more easily spin up $50K, $80K, and $100K months doing consulting
How I’m bringing more money in through the $100K in 100 Days challenge by dropping “rigid compliance” and allowing money to flow through other sources beyond just MotherLoad
